Application of the WKB method to catenary-shaped slender structures
نویسنده
چکیده
The purpose of this work is the derivation of closed form expressions for the linear vibration modes of catenary-shaped slender structures. The dynamic behaviour of the structure is described using the Euler–Bernoulli beam formulation with variable tension and angle terms. The desired expressions are obtained by treating the governing fourth-order partial differential equation of dynamic equilibrium using the WKB method [J.D. Steel Catenary Riser-Seabed Interaction Due to Caspian Sea Environmental Conditions
This paper investigates the integrated riser/vessel system which is subjected to random waves. Riser pipelines are the main components of the oil and gas offshore platforms. Whereas Iran country has been located on the fringes of Caspian Sea deep water, therefore study and research in this area is increasingly essential. The fluctuation of floating production causes the severe response and grea...
متن کاملA New Two-Stage Method for Damage Identification in Linear-Shaped Structures Via Grey System Theory and Optimization Algorithm
The main objective of this paper is concentrated on presenting a new two-stage method for damage localization and quantification in the linear-shaped structures. A linear-shaped structure is defined as a structure in which all elements are arranged only on a straight line. At the first stage, by employing Grey System Theory (GST) and diagonal members of the Generalized Flexibility Matrix (GFM),...
متن کاملتخمین نیروی هیدرودینامیکی امواج وارد بر سازههای لاغر دریایی به روش SI
Waves exert one of the most important forces on offshore and coastal structures as well as floating vessels. However, due to the random nature of waves, estimation of their hydrodynamic forces on marine structures is very complicated. Morison's semi-empirical model, is one of the models capable of estimating wave forces on slender cylindrical elements of marine structures. In this research usin...
متن کاملInvestigation of vortex-induced vibration phenomenon in verticallong circular slender structure with non-uniform flows
Analyzing the vortex-induced vibration of a slender marine structure withlength to diameter ratio up to 200 is the objective of this study. This slender is free to move in both in-line and cross flow directions and immersed completely in water. Three different types of shear currents pass on it and cause to vibrate slender in different forms. Nowadays, these vibrations are very important for de...
متن کاملبرآورد نیروی ناشی از امواج و جریانهای دریایی بر سازههای لاغر به صورت سری زمانی با استفاده از شبکههای عصبی مصنوعی
One of the most important issues in designing coastal and offshore structures is the prediction of wave and current forces on slender cylinders. Such forces are often considered as dominate loadings. Many analytical and empirical methods such as Morison equation have been suggested for estimation of waves and current forces. Such methods, however, have shown inaccuracies in predicting hydrodyna...
